...or Tunisiastan, whatever! Since the sacred January 14th Revolution and in the name of Freedom & Human Rights, some "islamists", aka beard scary creepy men, are back on the loose, filling the streets.
I know that many will not like the way I describe those former repressed prisoners of Ben Ali's regime, faithful members of Ennahdha (political party acting in the name of Islam). But truth is they're now trying to rule the country, playing the card of Allah and getting the compassion of people for all the torture and injustice they've suffered for long years ( ok, some of them).
Their campaign and actions are focused on poor areas, rural zones and the South where they're almost establishing a sort of Islamic Monarchy with a so called "Amir Al Mouminin" (in Ras Jedir for e.g.) Rumors (or facts) running that in some small cities, they're pressuring women to wear Hijab and burning "koffar" outfits.
Talking about "Hijab", now it is legally allowed for women to have a picture with it on their national ID ( that was forbidden before) and though I respect that "liberty", I think that Islamists will be misusing this new "right" to force the Hijab & women-must -stay-at-home culture.
Today, a holy Friday, I had a funny situation with one of those beard assholes who never do what they preach (Islam is a religion of tolerance, a word that never exist in their narrow minds.)
I was in a gas station, waiting in line for my turn. A "Moujahid" was sitting in the car in front of me, wearing Police shades and "gazing" at me from his mirror...He even stepped down the car in his Levi's jeans, all smiles, to check me out better. Well, a decent muslim should not do that but guess why he was so "intersted"?
My hair was still wet when I left home and I was afraid of catching a cold, so I put a black scarf on my head. The idiot probably thought that am "veiled" and thought he might have a chance with this "good muslim girl".
So in that very provokative style of mine, I took the scraf over my head to show my free hair & strike the jackass with a killer "go fuck yourself" look!
You can guess that the jerk went then "mad", shooting me with psychopathic eyes and probably cursing me ( my window was closed) He got back to his car, "defeated in his pride and dear Islam". He probably wished he could give me a lecture or worse, beat the hell out of my ass, hadn't we been in a public crowded place. I myself, didn't want to get into a fight with such a "terrorist" but I've to confess I was dying to show him a finger...
Anyway, I know that this "radical" post will trigger some "reactions" but I couldn't care less. I'd rather say what I deeply think than pretend to be someone that I am not. I will never stand on the side of those extremists. I will never let them force me or any free woman somehow into something we don't want.
In some other countries, I can get stoned, executed, I know, but I'm in Tunisia and I'll never accept that some fanatic macho men turn that moderate country into an Afaghanistan or Pakistan or the Islamic Republic of Iran Tunisia... They have their "Jihad", I have my blog!

I like your writing style but your comments in your posting Tunisistan are over the top . You seem to mix salafists and nahdha as being the same party....In your description of the man at the petrol station, nothing shows he was an Islamist...what made you assume he was one...you also assumed he got out of the car to chat you up?
Do you have to use bad language when you write?
Is that the best way to get read?
I don't know why you have a blog!but if you want it a serious one that can attract people, even westerners, then you will have first to mind your language and second ,to be consistent in your analysis.
    Nothing personal.

    @Stef :Merci

@Mahjoub: well, I don't write with a specific purpose on mind (like seeking an audience of westerns, chinese or aliens...)
As said on my profile, it's a personal blog, it reflects my own opinions and personality. So yes! I'm a rude girl who often over-react and make a big deal of trivial things and shout it out loud to annoy people around.
And plz :D asking me to watch my language is just funny, you sound like a "dad" :p^
Again, it's " my space", I've my own style, if you can't handle it, don't read it ;)

    Nothing personal, either.
